Women's Day of Prayer
.
Sabbath –  March 5, 2011 *

Dear Women’s Ministries Leaders:

The importance of prayer in our lives and in Women’s Ministries cannot be overstated. It is vital to experiencing peace of mind amid the uncertain times in which we’re living, and it’s also the key to receiving God’s blessings on our ministry in the church and the community.

As you begin planning the program for your church’s Women’s Day of Prayer, please keep in mind what Ellen G. White has said about the importance of prayer: “Prayer unites us with one another and with God. Prayer brings Jesus to our side, and gives to the fainting, perplexed soul new strength to overcome the world…” (Christ’s Object Lessons, 250).

This year, in addition to the sermon and accompanying PowerPoint slides, we have included a Prayer Walking Activity for Sabbath afternoon. We encourage the women of your church to get involved in this purposeful activity to reach out and pray for the families in your community. The prayer walking door hangers were designed by Donna Jackson, wife of our North American Division president, Elder Dan Jackson. Donna found these door hangers to be highly effective when she was women’s ministries director of the Ontario Conference.

If your church cannot observe Women’s Day of Prayer on the designated day, March 5, please work with your pastor to schedule it on another day.

As you unite in prayer for your church and community, please also pray for our women around the world who are facing challenges that we may not face in the North American Division. Particularly pray for families, single parents, widows, and single women around the world and in your own congregation.

For women’s ministries ideas and information, visit our web site at
www.nadwm.org or call our office at 301-680-6427.

May God bless you abundantly as you lead the women of your church in service to our God and all His children in your area.

Sincerely,

 Carla Baker, Director

*If the first Sabbath in March is not a convenient day to observe Day of Prayer in your church, please work with your pastor to find a better time.
