Offering Appeal
As Jesus moved through the week that led to His crucifixion, He was blessed more by the women than by the men in his life. At the feast of Simon the Leper in Bethany, Mary came to anoint Him with very costly spikenard, the most expensive gift He received during His ministry.
As He visited the temple for the last time, the chief priests and elders asked Him about His authority. Because of their own lack of repentance, He told them that not only tax collectors, but also harlots would get into the kingdom before they would.
Then He sat opposite the treasury and observed how gifts were being given. He affirmed a widow’s two-mite gift to God by assessing its worth as more than the total value of the large offerings brought by the wealthy.
Upon His resurrection, it was to a woman that He said, “Go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I ascend to my Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’” John 20:17, NASB.
Yes, women played a significant role in Christ’s life and ministry. And they are playing a significant role in His work today. Women are ministering in their homes, their communities, their churches. They are glorifying God with their service to Him and others.
May God impress you with your part in glorifying Him through your gift to Women’s Ministries. This offering is used for evangelistic outreach and leadership training.Additional links on this topic:
